GENERAL CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION


The Judge’s Decision is Final.

Ages to be as at Saturday 18th August 2012


Entry Fees: -


$2.00 per individual entry
per class.
$10.00 per group per class
Groups are 3 – 15 people including musicians
No Fee – No Entry

ENTRIES CLOSE 30th July 2012
And must be on the official entry forms

Rules to be observed -
No food, drink, sweets in the church.
No smoking in or around the building or grounds.
No entry into rooms during performances.

DRAMA AND SPEECH SECTION


(Individuals must bring own Bible for competitions)

Class 1: Bible Readings: Ages: a) 10 years & under b) 11 – 13 years c) 15 – 18 years d) Open


Five or six verses of own choice, plus a sight reading to be specified at the
Competitions.
Each competitor must bring a full Bible.
Competitors will be judged on:
Audibility and Clarity of Reading; Phrasing, Tone Quality, Emphasis, Inflection;
Presentation and Interpretation


Class 2: Bible Messages:
Ages: a) 20yrs & under b) Open
(a)“Salvation and Service”
Ephesians 2: 8 – 10.
b) “God’s Plans and Provisions”
Jeremiah 29: 10 – 14.

Your message must be on the subject given above, and must be within the given time.
The message must not be longer than 5 minutes.
You are required to base your message on the subject given, you are to use the verses given and you are to make it clear, relevant and applicable for people’s lives. An Introduction, main message and conclusion are needed. You will be penalised for exceeding the allocated time.
Competitors will be judged on:
Quality of Sermon Material and Method of Delivery.

Class 3: Bible Skits / Skits with a Christian Message:
Ages: a) 10yrs & under b) 11 –13yrs c) 14yrs – 18yrs d) Open

A simple one act play of own selection which is not to exceed 10 minutes.
Props must be kept to the bare minimum.
A maximum of two entries from any one Church.

Skits will be judged on:
Presentation (costume, set, sound, use of props); Direction (Interpretation/pace and climax/grouping, and team work/acting insight and characterisation/stage craft - imagination of production/audibility/voice production/communication of message)
Message content and relevance.

INSTRUMENTAL SECTION:


(1 song only to be performed – no longer than 5 minutes)
Groups and Bands must provide own instruments and gear for performance.

Class 4: Instrumental Groups: Age: a) 13yrs & under b)14yrs – 18yrs c) Open


Free arrangement of a Gospel song of own selection.
Minimum of four in group.

Groups will be judged on:
Choice of song; Arrangement; Degree of difficulty; Harmony; general group performance; Musicality; dynamics.
Class 5: Bands Ages: a) Juniors b) Intermediates c) Seniors d) Open

Free arrangement of a Gospel song of own selection.
Minimum of four in group.

Groups will be judged on:
Choice of song; Arrangement; Degree of difficulty; Harmony; general group
performance; Musicianship and audience appeal.

DANCE SECTION:

(Performance to be no longer than 5 minutes)
Must provide own music.


Class 6: Hip Hop Group Ages: a) 18 years & under b) Open

Dance must be of a Christian theme to Christian music.
Minimum of four in group.

Judging will be on:
Presentation; Choreography; Use of space; Creativity; Overall group performance; Audience appeal.

Class 7: Cultural Group Ages: a) 18 years & under b) Open
Dance must be of a Christian theme to Christian Music.

Judging will be on:
Presentation; Choreography; Use of space; Creativity; Overall Group Performance; Audience appeal.

MUSIC SECTION

Performers must bring their own instruments.

Class 8: Gospel Group Ages: a)18yrs & under b) Open


Free arrangement of one Gospel piece of own choice of approximately 5 minutes Groups must contain a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 people, inclusive of musicians.

No restriction on entries per church but no person may be in more than one group.
Judging will be on:
Choice and arrangement of piece; rhythm; phrasing; tone; harmony; pitch; dynamics. Overall performance; Audience appeal.

Class 9: Praise and Worship Team

Free arrangement of own piece suitable for praise and worship. Group must have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 people, inclusive of musicians.
No restrictions on numbers of entries per church, but no one is to be in more than one group.
